Chimney stacks repointed, rebuilt and flashed in properly by a team that does the brickwork and the roofing, not one or the other. Around ten miles northeast of our base.

Chimney Repairs for Homes in Cannock

Cannock’s chimneys carry the coalfield’s history, the terraces near the centre worked their stacks hard for a century, and the mid-century semis were still built with fireplaces as standard, leaving the town a huge population of stacks now mostly retired. Repoint, recast, cap and flash is the standing order, with rebuilds where the top courses have given up.

We cover Cannock and the surrounding area: Town centre, Hednesford side, Chadsmoor, Bridgtown, Heath Hayes and beyond (WS11, WS12).

What’s Included

Chase-side stacks earn the exposure premium again, higher streets mean harder weather on the mortar, and we check them with that in mind. Wood burners are popular toward the Chase too, bringing stacks back into service and their condition back into focus.

  • Stacks repointed with the right mortar mix
  • Full and partial chimney rebuilds in matching brick
  • Lead flashing and soakers renewed, dressed into the joints
  • Flaunching recast, pots reset, cowls and caps fitted
  • Disused chimneys removed and tiled over
  • Roofer and bricklayer on the same scaffold

“I’m very pleased with the work carried out on my property. The builder/roofer re-pointed my chimney and repaired my roof to high standard, and everything was completed within a very reasonable timeframe. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone looking for quality roofing work done efficiently and to a high standard.”

Chimney Repairs in Cannock, FAQs

At that age, typically a repoint, fresh flaunching and a cap on the unused flue, a day’s work that resets it for decades. Left alone the same stack eventually becomes a rebuild, so never-touched is worth changing to checked-once.

It needs to be genuinely sound before it goes back to work, joints, flaunching, pot and flashing. We sort the outside; the liner and connection are the stove installer’s domain, and we are clear about the handover line.

From the ground, look for gaps and shadows in the mortar joints, white staining, or a stack that reads crooked against the sky. Inside, damp patches on the chimney breast are the big tell. Binoculars from the garden will tell you a lot, and we will confirm properly from a ladder or scaffold.

It can be. Stacks lean when the mortar on the weather side wears faster, and a badly leaning stack in wind is a genuine risk to whatever is below. If yours has a visible lean, get it looked at soon. Making it safe is quick; rebuilding it is planned work, not an emergency, if caught early.

Usually the lead. Flashing that has split, lifted or been bodged with mastic lets water straight in at the joint between stack and roof. Cracked flaunching on top does the same. Both are standard fixes for us, and we check all three, brick, flaunching and lead, whenever we look at a leaking chimney.
