Flat Roofing in Dudley

Garage, extension and dormer roofs in EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass or felt, laid with proper falls so water leaves instead of ponding. Twenty minutes south, strongest on the north side.

Flat Roofing for Homes in Dudley

Flat roofs on Dudley’s north side follow the housing, back additions and outriggers behind the hill terraces, garages and stores across the interwar estates, and the porches and links added since. Most are on their second or third felt and telling the usual stories, junction leaks, ponding, brittle edges.

We cover Dudley and the surrounding area: Priory estate, Wren’s Nest, Eve Hill, Kates Hill, Castle area and beyond (DY1, DY2).

Flat Roofing in Dudley, FAQs

Standard and worth doing properly, that wall junction is the classic failure, and the cure is a rebuilt upstand with flashing dressed into the brick joints, not another smear of sealant. It is compact work we do constantly on these streets.

Ideal arrangement, shared visits split the setup and everyone pays less. The estate’s garage stock is all similar age, so group recovers make sense street by street.

Both are excellent when fitted right, so it comes down to the roof. EPDM suits larger, simpler roofs because it goes down in one continuous sheet and copes with a bit of movement. GRP gives a hard, walkable finish and crisp edges, which suits smaller roofs, balconies and roofs with lots of detail. We quote whichever suits yours, or both so you can compare.

Old style felt was ten to fifteen years if you were lucky. A properly fitted EPDM or GRP roof is a different class: the materials themselves are rated for decades. The weak point is always the workmanship at edges and outlets, which is exactly where we take the most care.

Standing water, called ponding, ages any flat roof faster: it strains the membrane, freezes in winter and finds any weak seam. Sometimes the fix is as simple as correcting the falls with firring or a tapered board when the roof is recovered. If your roof ponds, it is worth a look before it starts leaking.
